Mary Shepard

Mary Shepard, age 77, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Monday, September 20, 2021. She was born September 3, 1944, in Nashville, to James McLean and Lucille Drain. She attended school at UT Knoxville and received an Associates in Nursing from the University of Memphis. Mary was a neonatal nurse throughout her career and had a passion for working with newborn infants.  In fact, as soon as you gave her a crying baby, she seemed to know exactly what to do to put them at ease. Mary was a big fan of the UT Vols, NASCAR (specifically Dale Earnhardt) and the Chicago Cubs, and enjoyed cheering them on at every opportunity.  Other hobbies included gardening and spending time in the Smoky Mountains, where her ashes will eventually be spread along the Little River. She is survived by her son Jimmy Shepard and wife Neca Shepard, daughter Rachel Mitchell and husband Trey Mitchell; and two grandchildren, David Page and Ashley Page.

The family requests donations be made to The Gliobastoma Foundation, donations in honor of  her daughter Laura Page, who passed away in 2019.
